Volunteer Opportunities

Westminster Canterbury has welcomed volunteers from the Richmond community for over 30 years. Teens, college students, men and women have helped us enhance services to residents and to enrich the quality of life at WCR. Our volunteers provide a supportive service for the staff, help to meet the social, emotional and psychological needs of the residents, and promote good public relations for WCR in the community.

We have placements for the following:

  • Escorts for residents on campus (wheelchair or walking)
    • Mary Morton Parsons Health Center
    • The Gables (Memory Support Center)
    • Avalon (Assisted Living)

 

  • Parsons Center
    • Read/talk to residents
    • Visit residents
    • Help at mealtime
    • Other small jobs to help nursing staff
    • Bring a dog to visit residents

 

  • Assist Recreation Staff
    • Crafts
    • Games (Bingo, Puzzles)
    • Sing-a-long
    • Social Events
    • Outings

 

  • Galleria Gift Shops
    • Assist customers with purchases
    • Operate cash register
    • Volunteers receive shop discounts
    • Training provided 

 

  • Musicians
    • Choral Group Leader
    • Piano
    • Violin
    • Flute
    • Musical groups
