One of the Nation’s “Most Livable Communities”

Richmond recently was named one of America's 30 "Most Livable Communities” by the national non-profit organization called Partners for Livable Communities. For those of us who live here, the reasons are obvious. Beautiful neighborhoods, an enriching and educational heritage and a history tracing back to the first settlers. A mid-sized city of 200,000, Richmond boasts a flourishing cultural community typical of a much larger city. You'll find many theatre companies including our own symphony, professional ballet and opera. Art galleries, museums, prominent universities, boating, sports and entertainment attractions, shops and restaurants … there’s an endless list of appealing pastimes to pursue in this delightful city. And it’s only a short ride to the ocean, mountains and Washington, D.C.
